About

Durham Independent Dance Artists (DIDA) is an organization dedicated to connecting dance artists with audiences, and dance audiences with artists. In this pursuit, the DIDA team has assembled another season of dance performances happening in Durham.

Our focus is on modern dance. For season 2, DIDA is working with 9 choreographers who will be presenting evening-length dance pieces in Durham. In partnership with these choreographers, DIDA is working to keep dance audiences and enthusiasts informed about exciting events happening in their city by publicizing each of seasons as a whole.

The advantage of promoting a whole season of dance (as opposed to just one dance show at a time) is that it raises awareness and interest in local dance throughout the year. DIDA can also serve as a hub for dance artists and audiences to connect with each other (join our mailing list to stay informed about exciting events!).

DIDA is supported in part by Culture Mill.

Our Mission

DIDA raises the profile of independent dance in Durham by curating a season of dance performances by local choreographers. We connect audiences and artists, providing audiences with easy access to exciting local work and providing artists with increased visibility to local audiences.

DIDA, since 2014.

We are proud and excited to announce the second season of DIDA artists for 2015-2016! As with DIDA's first season, the artists are a diverse and talented group of people. For more information on the artists and events from both seasons, visit the Seasons link.
